Rather than recreate the wheel here, I have posted links to many of the trips we have done with the Arizona Land Rover Owners club and the local Rover dealers, along with links to my restoration of Bettie, a 1961 Land Rover Series II.  She has a pretty interesting history.  She started her working life in Vernon, BC and remained there until the late 90's when she was purchased by a gentleman from Venice Beach, CA.  She sat there for almost 10 years collecting dust until I purchased her in December 2003 and trailered her home to Arizona to begin a frame off restoration.

She is one of only about 590 North American Spec Series IIs brought over that year.  What makes her really uniques is that she was one of the last 50 Series IIs ever built (there was a mid-year switch to the Series IIa) and as a result she has a lot of Euro Spec parts as they were cleaning out the parts bins.  Her original red paint and Station Wagon configuration make her even more of a collector's item as very few came with the safari top, deluxe bonnet mounted spare tyre, Canadian made Kodiak heater, and rear mounted seats.  Red was only available in North America and as you can see, it suits her well.  I have tried to keep her close to original, but thought she warranted some bigger tyres.  I will get around to sourcing some stock rims and tires at some point.
